Where to get old indian head pennies?
i am wanting to start a collection of indian head pennies and i was wondering where i could find them or places i could get a hold of some without buying them for top dollar, like would going to the bank and getting 10,000 pennies and sorting through all of them work?
The days of finding Indian Head cents in change are over, not to say one does not show up from time to time in a roll of cents. It is very rare these days though. Nice original Indian Head cents even in the mid to higher circulated grades command a premium. In coin collecting you get what you pay for, as long as you know the series you are collecting and can grade them. Over graded coins are sold all the time at prices a little less than they should be for that grade. Find a dealer with an Indian Head cent box, I think they are up to the $1.25 to $1.50 range and pick out some nice ones to start with, there will be no rare dates there but it is a start. Actually you could find some not so common dates for dealers miss things all the time. Keep away from ebay unless you know your coins and grading. have fun
